Research Analyst, AI Answer Measurement

Open. Remote, United States. Full time.

The Absence Index records which vendors AI engines name when buyers ask about a category: 14 categories, 286 vendors and 150 observed answers per category in the current release. This role owns the releases, the receipts behind every figure and the open datasets, and keeps the method honest.

Responsibilities

• Run each Absence Index release and keep the receipt behind every published figure.

• Normalise vendor names and handle failed observations under the published method.

• Deposit the open datasets on Zenodo with each release.

• Publish two evidence pieces a week from the measured data.

• Report scheduled runs apart from adaptive ones, three repeats as three repeats, and citations as citations, not as causes.

What we look for

• Two or more years of quantitative research or analytics.

• Python or SQL you use in your own work.

• Clear writing, checked against sources.

• A working understanding of measurement noise.

• Eligibility to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Where and how

• Remote only, hiring in the United States. Relocation is allowed.

• Hours are flexible within US time zones, and work is judged on output.

How the work is measured

• Index releases ship on schedule.

• Every published figure reproduces from the deposited data.

• Corrections are few, and each one is published.

• How often the research is cited.

Pay and terms: $80,000 to $105,000 a year, full time, no equity, no visa sponsorship. Applications close 31 December 2026.
