Role Title: Commercial Attorney

Role Type: Contractor

Location: Remote (US Based)

micro1 is engaging Commercial Attorneys to contribute to a confidential project at the intersection of law and AI. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. The work draws directly on day-to-day commercial contracting practice: reviewing agreements, marking up drafts, and applying company policy positions the way in-house counsel would.

Scope of Work

  1. Review and redline commercial agreements, including MSAs, NDAs, DPAs, and similar documents, in accordance with established playbooks and policies.
  2. Analyze drafts to identify key issues and determine applicable company positions and acceptable fallback outcomes.
  3. Draft clear, reasoned written explanations detailing the rationale behind each redline or revision.
  4. Apply advanced contract drafting, negotiation, and technology transactions knowledge to real-world legal documents.
  5. Collaborate with the project team to ensure consistency of standards and interpretations throughout the engagement.
  6. Maintain meticulous attention to detail and uphold high standards of legal writing and contract review quality.
  7. Work independently within a remote, deadline-driven project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in a U.S. jurisdiction.
  2. Minimum of 4 years' experience in transactional practice at a law firm or as an in-house attorney, focusing on contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
  3. Deep familiarity with commonly negotiated commercial provisions, such as limitation of liability, indemnification, confidentiality, and data protection.
  4. Proven ability to synthesize complex legal concepts and deliver clear, actionable written analyses.
  5. Demonstrated sound judgment and a high level of accuracy in contract review and interpretation.
  6. Expertise in technology transactions considered a strong plus.
  7. Adaptability and drive to contribute to a high-impact, innovative legal project in a confidential setting.

Before you apply

  • Confirm async-friendly culture vs daily standup-heavy expectations
  • Ask about on-call rotation and incident expectations
  • Check the tech stack matches what you actually want to use day-to-day
