This is a remote position.

Position Summary

Calculates preliminary job budgets and prepared formal job bids through interpreting blueprints, performing take-offs and estimating job costs interfaces with clients and their representatives to ensure that technical specifications and design are consistent with industry standards.

General:

  • Keep current and maintain our operating systems (CRM/Projects/Etc.)
  • Attend daily huddle and provide input
  • Join one local networking group and attend meetings
  • Participate in company marketing events/activities
  • Keep office organized and presentable
  • Attend continuing education/training classes on roofing
  • Work with managers to set monthly/quarterly/yearly goals

Estimating:

  • Attending weekly estimating meetings to discuss past, current and future bid opportunities and follow-ups
  • Develop and maintain relationships with current customers and new General Contractors
  • Create project bid files in Stack for assigned bids. Bid file to include: bid invitation, drawings, specifications, addendum, proposal etc
  • Attend pre-bid meeting when available; be prepared to obtain field measurements, job site photos, ground and accessibility photos, core samples, etc.
  • Create pre-bid requirement checklist: Bid Bond, company qualifications, etc
  • Obtain bidders list when more than one GC is bidding the project
  • Perform quantity take off from drawings
  • Create Bid in Stack Estimating Software.
  • Obtain pricing from distributors and input in the estimating software.
  • Set labor pricing with manager.
  • Write detailed proposal including scope of work, exclusions and price
  • Peer review proposals as needed/required
  • Submit proposal to GC's/Owner (often times more than one per project)
  • Follow up with GC/Owner to determine status of our bid
  • Review contract with management
  • When awarded a contract complete contract file for hand off

Project Management

  • Complete manufacturer' Notice of Award
  • Compile and submit to GC/Owner project submittals
  • Attend In-House pre construction meeting with production team and bring to meeting
    • Scope of Work
    • Roofing Plan, Elevations, Details and pertinent specifications
    • Approved submittals
    • Project schedule
    • Site specific safety plan
  • Answer RFI/Addendum's, CCD's within GC time line
  • Provide GC requested change orders within 2 business days
  • Provide Roof Experts requested additional work change orders within 2 business days.
  • Compile and submit close outs to GC/Owner

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree preferred but not required
  • 3+ years of commercial estimating experience
  • Edge experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings or client sketches
  • ability to assist design roofing solutions
  • Great communication skills, written and oral
  • Ambitious
  • Team Player
  • Timely with an ability to take a project to completion
