Estimating & Operations Assistant

About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Estimating & Operations Assistant to support a growing window treatment business specialising in roller shades, drapery, curtains, and related home automation solutions.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, documents, spreadsheets, and processes, and who is confident learning a specialised product and estimating process.
You will work closely with the business owners to take much of the administrative and estimating workload off their hands, allowing them to focus more heavily on sales, client relationships, and closing new business.

Key Responsibilities
● Review architectural floor plans and identify windows and relevant measurements
● Extract window measurements accurately from floor plans
● Enter measurements and project information into Excel-based estimating spreadsheets
● Use existing pricing information and price lists to prepare estimates
● Prepare proposals and bids for review by the business owners
● Submit completed bids and estimates using client-provided forms
● Ensure estimates and documentation are accurate and complete
● Coordinate with the internal team to validate measurements and pricing during the initial training period
● Gradually take greater ownership of the estimating process as your knowledge and confidence develop
● Assist with scheduling installations and coordinating project timelines
● Communicate with customers regarding installation dates and production updates when required
● Keep project records and business information organised and up to date
● Help identify opportunities to improve and streamline existing processes
● Assist with general business administration and record keeping during quieter periods

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be:
● Highly detail-oriented with excellent accuracy
● Comfortable working with numbers, measurements and spreadsheets
● Confident reading and interpreting floor plans or technical drawings
● Experienced with Microsoft Excel
● Comfortable learning new software and processes
● Organised and able to manage multiple tasks
● Proactive and capable of identifying ways to improve processes
● Reliable and able to work independently
● A strong communicator with good written and verbal English
● Comfortable working towards clear turnaround-time expectations
● Willing to learn a specialised estimating process and take increasing ownership overtime

Previous Experience

Experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial:
● Window treatments, blinds, shades or drapery
● Construction or interior design
● Estimating or quoting
● Architectural or construction floor plans
● Project coordination
● Administrative or operations support
● Working with measurements and pricing
● Home automation

Industry experience is not essential, provided you have strong attention to detail, are comfortable working with spreadsheets and technical information, and can learn the company's processes quickly.

Software

The company currently uses:
● Microsoft Excel
● Coda / Superhuman Docs
● Wave Invoicing
● Microsoft Office / Office Suite
Previous experience with these platforms is advantageous, but the ability to learn new systems is more important.
