How Often Remote Sales Jobs List Pay

August 4, 2026 · 6 min read

Remote sales jobs vary widely in how much pay information they share. Some listings include a clear range, others mention only "competitive" pay, and many leave the field blank. If you are comparing remote sales opportunities, it helps to know how common salary disclosure actually is.

This article is a first-party data report from RemoteTide, extracted on August 4, 2026. It shows the share of remote sales listings that include any pay information, the share that include a usable USD range, and how those shares compare with the site as a whole. It is a snapshot, not a trend or a prediction.

Salary transparency on RemoteTide right now

Across all active jobs on RemoteTide on August 4, 2026, salary transparency looked like this:

  • Total active jobs: 10,213
  • With any salary info: 3,222 listings (31.5%)
  • With usable USD salary: 2,171 listings (21.3%)

For remote sales specifically, out of 1,471 active listings:

  • With any salary info: 536 listings (36.4%)
  • With usable USD salary: 393 listings (26.7%)

Sales therefore had a higher salary-disclosure rate than the site-wide average on both measures. About one in three remote sales listings included at least some pay information, and about one in four included a range we could analyze as a usable USD salary.

These percentages are point-in-time values. They will move as new listings are posted and old ones expire. They also depend on the rules we use to decide what counts as usable salary data, which are described below.

What counts as a usable salary range

Not every listing that includes a number is useful for comparison. We apply a strict filter so that the numbers we report are consistent and comparable:

  • Currency: the listing must have no currency code or a USD code, case-insensitive. We do not convert other currencies.
  • Range completeness: both salary_min and salary_max must be present. A single figure is not enough.
  • Midpoint: we calculate (salary_min + salary_max) / 2 for each listing.
  • Band: the midpoint must be between $20,000 and $600,000. Values outside this band are treated as likely data errors and excluded.
  • Minimum sample: we report medians and percentiles only when there are at least 15 usable listings. The remote sales sample of 393 is well above that threshold.

The usable USD salary share is therefore smaller than the "any salary info" share, because some listings have non-USD currencies, incomplete ranges, or midpoints outside the band.

What transparency means for sales candidates

A listed range is useful, but in sales it is not always straightforward. The same number can mean different things depending on the employer:

  • Base salary is the fixed component you receive regardless of performance.
  • On-target earnings (OTE) is the total expected pay if you hit quota, usually base plus commission.
  • Total compensation may also include bonuses, accelerators, equity, or draws against commission.

Our data shows that remote sales listings include pay more often than the site-wide average, but it does not tell us how many of those listings label the range as base versus OTE. In practice, posted sales ranges often show base or OTE inconsistently. A listing that says $100,000–$140,000 may be describing base only, OTE, or total compensation. The only way to know for sure is to read the full description and ask the recruiter directly.

This matters because two roles with identical-looking ranges can have very different risk profiles. A $120,000 OTE with a $60,000 base and a $60,000 quota commission is not the same as a $120,000 base with additional commission on top. Before you evaluate an offer or set your own expectations, confirm which structure the listing represents.

How to find salary-listed sales roles

If you want to focus your search on roles that already include pay, here are practical steps:

  1. Start with the salary guide. The remote sales salary guide shows roles that have passed our usable-salary filter. It is a faster way to find listings with real numbers than scrolling through unfiltered results.
  2. Browse by job listings. On remote sales jobs, look for posts that display a range in the card or summary. Even when a range is shown, open the full listing to see whether it describes base, OTE, or total pay.
  3. Read the full description. Salary details are sometimes buried in the body of the post. Look for phrases like "base," "OTE," "on-target earnings," "commission," "uncapped," or "draw."
  4. Ask early. If the post is unclear, ask the recruiter or hiring manager in your first message whether the listed number is base, OTE, or total compensation, and what the quota and accelerator structure looks like.
  5. Use the salary calculator. If you want to compare a sales range against other roles or locations, the salary calculator can help you put the numbers in context.

Transparency is helpful, but it is only the first step. The second step is understanding what the transparent number actually represents.

What this does not tell us

This report is intentionally narrow. It tells you how many remote sales listings on RemoteTide included pay information on August 4, 2026. It does not tell you:

  • Whether disclosure rates are rising or falling over time.
  • How sales transparency compares to every other industry or job board.
  • Whether the listed ranges are accurate, negotiable, or final.
  • How much of each range is base versus commission.

Those questions require different data. For now, treat this as a single benchmark you can compare against the live listings you see today.

How we compute this

The figures in this article come from one extraction on August 4, 2026, using the following process:

  • Dataset: all active jobs where expires_at is later than the extraction timestamp.
  • Any salary info: listings where both salary_min and salary_max are present, regardless of currency.
  • Usable USD salary: listings where currency is null or USD, both ends of the range are present, and the midpoint falls between $20,000 and $600,000.
  • Percentages: calculated against the active listing count for the category or the site as a whole.
  • Medians and percentiles: midpoints are sorted, the median is the middle value (averaged when the count is even), and p25/p75 use ceiling-index percentile matching the live salary reports. We report these only when there are at least 15 usable listings.

The bottom line

On August 4, 2026, remote sales listings on RemoteTide were more likely to include pay information than the site-wide average: 36.4% had any salary info, and 26.7% had a usable USD range, compared with 31.5% and 21.3% across all categories. The median midpoint for the 393 usable remote sales listings was $120,150.

Those numbers are useful as a snapshot, but they come with a sales-specific caveat. A listed range may represent base pay, OTE, or total compensation. Read carefully, ask directly, and use the remote sales salary guide and remote sales jobs listings as your starting point.
