Not every tag in the skills list is a pure operations skill. Go and Rust rank first and third in this category, but that is ingest tag noise, not a claim that operations roles need Go or Rust. Those terms leaked into operations listings from engineering-adjacent postings during ingest. They should not be read as a skills requirement for operations work.

The practical takeaway is still useful: Project Management and Business Operations appear where you would expect, Finance shows up when operations roles touch accounting or budgeting, and Product Management suggests some operations postings overlap with product-ops or business-ops work. Treat the list as a frequency count of words employers associate with operations roles, not a strict skills inventory.

Salary transparency in operations listings

Among the 800 active operations listings, 143 include usable USD salary data that meets our filtering rules. For those 143 listings, the midpoint distribution is:

These figures are derived from the stated midpoint of each posted range, filtered to USD or null-currency listings, and reported only because the sample exceeds our minimum threshold. Sample size is n=143, extracted on August 31, 2026.

This is a smaller sample than the active-listing count suggests. The remaining listings do not include enough salary information to meet our filtering rules, so the median reflects only the subset that does.

What this snapshot does and does not tell you

This is a single point in time. It does not predict whether operations hiring will rise or fall, whether salaries will climb or compress, or which companies will keep posting. It also does not tell you what you will personally earn; actual offers depend on level, location policy, equity, and negotiation.

What the snapshot can do is orient your search. If you are looking for remote operations work, you now know which companies are most visible on the board, which skills are commonly requested, and what the current range looks like for roles that include pay data.

How we compute this

Our operations salary figures come from RemoteTide's live job listings, extracted on August 31, 2026. We apply four rules before a listing contributes to a percentile:

1. Currency filter. The salary currency must be null or USD, case-insensitive. We treat null as USD because the majority of unlabeled remote salaries on RemoteTide are posted in US dollars.
2. Complete range. Both salary_min and salary_max must be present. Partial ranges are excluded.
3. Midpoint. We use (salary_min + salary_max) / 2 as the representative value for each listing.
4. Band and sample-size guard. The midpoint must fall between $20,000 and $600,000. We report medians and percentiles only when at least 15 usable listings remain after filtering.
